Advice needed on getting started

Postby jdwl » Fri Jan 09, 2009 2:09 pm

Hi all,

I am interested in getting a car together to begin Rallying - where would you suggest I start? I was thinking a rear wheel drive 4 cylinder (BMW 318is, MX5 or similar) - is that a good first car? What do other people in the 'non-4wd' classes drive?

Thank you for any advice or pointers to more information.

Welcome to the sport Jeremy

Any car you can afford to run is a good car. Remember its not just the cost of building, but maintaining as well.
I would recommend that you look at the Excel Series http://www.excelrally.com.au as a good way to start. The cars are realtively cheap to build and maintain, plus they have a good group of people involved who are more than willing to help new competitiors.
