Mitta Mountain Rally Event Update & Accommodation Details
Supplementary Regulations have been released for what will be a joint round of the 2018 MTA (Motor Traders of NSW) NSW Rally Championship, as well as the Focus on Furniture and Bedding Victorian Rally Championship. The incorporated Mitta Masters for classic cars and competitors returns this year also as a round of the fledgling East Coast Classic Rally Series.
The recently completed course check reported that the usually narrow, twisting, ducking and diving old style mountain logging roads are in unusually excellent condition following a recent grading program. The superb views of Victorian peaks remain for co-drivers to enjoy and drivers to occasionally glance at.
The unique features of the Mitta event are all still there including the amazing service park on the golf course, modern Rally Base with excellent local catering, long no repeat mountain stages, results final on the day, wrapped up with presentation that night in the fantastic Mitta Pub. The bus from Dartmouth will operate again as well.
The Mitta Mountain Rally Organising Team wishes competitors well this weekend tackling the Caves Classic, Round 1 of the NSWRC and the Ada River Rally, Round 2 of the VRC, and hopes that all are in a position to submit their early bird entries by 8 pm Monday 16 April.
The Mitta Mountain Rally Organisers were unable to bulk book accommodation in the Mitta Valley due to the significant financial liability involved. An assessment of remaining available accommodation is summarised below.
While there is ample motel style accommodation available in Tallangatta and Wodonga, 45 to 60 minutes drive away, that would mean an early start Saturday morning, and may impact the degree of partying after the event in Mitta.
The organisers are seeking availability of private accommodation in the form of vacant houses and spare rooms close to Mitta Mitta, and will post details of this and remaining commercial accommodation on: http://www.northeasterncarclub.com.au/mitta-mountain-rally.html as it becomes available.
There is ample scope for camping in the caravan park close to the Rally base and also within the Service Park at $10 per person per night. Showers are available in the adjacent new Multi-Purpose recreation reserve facility, along with breakfast, lunch and dinner.
